Chamber Choir and Symphony Orchestra
About Us
The Chamber Choir and Symphony Orchestra of Universität Hamburg are the central ensembles of University Music. They are directed by University Music Director Prof. Thomas Posth. The roughly 150 members include students from all faculties as well as members of regional universities.
Each winter semester, the Chamber Choir and Orchestra prepare a musical program that is performed as the traditional University Concert in the Laeiszhalle. In the summer semesters, the two ensembles present their own concerts. Alongside well-known works, the programs also feature lesser-known treasures of the musical repertoire. An essential part of the Chamber Choir’s rehearsal process is weekly vocal training, led by Hanna Szperalski.
Want to sing or play with us?
To participate in one of the two ensembles, applicants should have a connection to the university and sufficient musical skills, which must be demonstrated in a short audition. New admissions are always possible at the beginning of the semester.
Interested singers and instrumentalists can register for an audition via the online portal. Further information is available on our Join Us page.
